Attended by over 500 key policy makers, business
men, bankers, professionals, academics and ESS members, the
ESS Annual Dinner was held on 8 April 2003 at the Ritz-Carlton
Hotel, with Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister
of Finance, Mr Lee Hsien Loong gracing the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
In the delivery of his keynote speech on "Remaking the
Singapore Economy", DPM Lee highlighted the need to constantly
review institutions and policy, as well as the importance
of strong leadership in driving the transformation of the
economy. He also pointed out the necessity for a broad consensus
among the population in supporting such changes in order to
succeed in remaking the economy.
