January 2008 Issue 1 WELCOME NOTE Dear Member, First and foremost, I would like to wish you Happy New Year 2008! To kick things off in the brand new year, we have launched the first edition of our newsletter - ESS eNewsletter - a simple newsletter to reach out to all our members more often. ESS eNewsletter will feature frequent updates of events just passed and announcements regarding upcoming events or developments. The aim is twofold. Firstly, we want to engage as many of our members as possible for our main events each year. Secondly, with our large membership, we understand that not all events will be of equal interest to everyone, and not all events can be timed to fit the schedules of everyone. So we want to provide brief recaps of what transpired at these events, including the 32nd FAEA Conference (Bangkok) held in December 2007, Asian Pension Fund Roundtable held in November 2007, and the Annual A-Level Student Seminar held in August 2007. Do look out in subsequent issues for more updates on events lined up for the New Year: informal networking sessions, a forum on the Regional Economic Outlook 2008, and of course our Annual Dinner in July. In between issues, we will continue to send you snippets of news, announcements and updates. Please also visit our website when you have some time.
