The Economic Society of Singapore's Annual General Meeting was held on 27 th March 2008 at the Conference Room 27A located at MAS Building, 27 th Floor, 10 Shenton Way, Singapore. This marked the end of the 52 nd year of the Society.

Outgoing President of Economic Society of Singapore (ESS)

Dr. Khor Hoe Ee, Assistant Managing Director of Monetary Authority of Singapore announced at the ESS Annual General Meeting that he will be stepping down as President and expressed his gratitude to the Council Members, for their time and efforts which had been essential to the Society; to the Corporate Members, for the financial support which had been critical in funding the various events and activities and to all ESS Members for the support and contributions done in the past seven years he has served as ESS President.

He informed the meeting that he will be staying on in the Council as requested by the incoming President and look forward to making a small contribution to activities of the Society from the Middle East, where he will be based for the next few years.

Incoming President of Economic Society of Singapore (ESS)  

Professor Euston Quah, Head of Division of Economics , Acting Chair, School of Humanities and Social Sciences Nanyang Technological University, and Editor, Singapore Economic Review was elected as the 16 th President of the Economic Society of Singapore at the ESS Annual General Meeting. Professor Euston Quah informed the meeting in his capacity as President of ESS, his objectives are to expand society membership both the corporate and individual level, to create opportunities for new ideas by attracting younger economists and providing channel of interaction and networking, to bring closer relationship and rapport among industry, government and the tertiary sectors and to raise the profile of the Society by having more activites.

He also added that for these goals to be realized, the Society is grateful to have the commitment of the new 53rd Council.
