Public Lecture on: “SEX, SCIENCE, AND ECONOMIC PROFITS”
|
A public lecture on “Sex, Science, and Economic Profits” was given by Dr. Terence Kealey on 19 th October 2010 at the Rendezvous Hotel. It was a well received lecture.
According to Dr. Kealey, ever since Francis Bacon in 1605 wrote the Advancement of Learning, it has been universally supposed that science is a public good requiring a public subsidy. Unfortunately, the empirical evidence at the last 400 years fails to support that supposition, but because everybody other than the taxpayer has vested interest in it, the lack of empirical evidence is rarely discussed. Actually, science is organize in invisible colleges, and it can be viewed an invisible college good not a public good. |
