Public Lecture by Dr Paul Yip on “The Global Economy after the Financial Tsunami: Risk of Inflation, Asset Bubble, Exchange Rate Cycle and then a Crisis outside the US

The public lecture by Dr. Paul Yip an Associate Professor in Economics at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore was well received. It was held on 25 th August at Singapore Management University, School of Economics and Social Sciences organized by the Economic Society of Singapore (ESS) with Mr. Yeoh Lam Keong (Vice President, ESS) as chair. It was attended by students from the different universities and economists from the financial, public and private sector.

His lecture was extracted from the last chapter of his new book, namely “China's Exchange Rate System Reform: Lessons for Macroeconomic Policy Management”. If time allows, I will also discuss the very special characteristics of Asian property markets and its policy implications (i.e., chapters 9-10 of my book).
